Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 20, 2026
This policy describes how SGOlist ("we," "us") handles information on sgolist.com, the national directory connecting families seeking K-12 scholarships, donors using state tax credit programs, and Scholarship Granting Organizations (SGOs).
It reflects how the product works today. It is not a substitute for legal advice, and we may update it as the service changes. Questions: hello@sgolist.com.
Information we collect
Depending on how you use the site, we may collect:
- Account information. If you create an account, Clerk stores sign-in details such as your name and email. We keep a matching profile in our database (role, name, email) so dashboards and listings work.
- Family profile information. Families who use the eligibility tools may save state, ZIP code, household size, and household income. You may also add children you are responsible for: first name, grade, current school, school type, and whether the child has an IEP or 504 plan.
- Donor inquiries. If you contact an SGO from its profile, we collect the name, email, phone, intended donation amount, message, and interest you submit so that organization can follow up.
- SGO listing information. Organization name, location, EIN and other registry fields, website, programs, and similar directory data — from state sources, claimed profiles, or the SGO that manages the listing.
- Payment information. Paid listing subscriptions are processed by Stripe. We store Stripe customer and subscription identifiers needed to apply your plan. We do not store full card numbers.
- Technical logs. Our host (Vercel) and authentication provider receive standard request data such as IP address, user agent, and timestamps.
How we use information
- Operate the public directory, state guides, and related pages.
- Run family eligibility tools and SGO listing, claim, and dashboard features.
- Deliver donor inquiries to the SGO you chose to contact.
- Bill and manage paid listing subscriptions.
- Prevent abuse (rate limits and, when enabled, bot checks).
- Respond to requests sent to hello@sgolist.com.
How we share information
We share information only as needed to run the service:
- The SGO you contact. Donor inquiry fields are stored and shown to that listing's account so they can reply. We do not run a public donor matching flow yet.
- Service providers that process data for us: Clerk (accounts), Stripe (listing payments), Supabase (application database), Vercel (hosting), and Cloudflare Turnstile (bot protection on donor forms when configured).
- Legal requests if we believe disclosure is required by law or necessary to protect users or the service.
We do not sell personal information.
Information about children
Family accounts may include information about K-12 students that a parent or guardian chooses to add. The site is not directed at children under 13 creating their own accounts. If you believe we have information about a child that should not be here, email hello@sgolist.com.
Your choices
You can review and update family and listing information from your signed-in dashboard. To request access, correction, or deletion of an account or stored inquiry, email hello@sgolist.com. We may need to keep records required for billing, security, or legal obligations.
Cookies and similar technology
Clerk uses cookies and similar storage to keep you signed in. When donor-form bot protection is enabled, Cloudflare Turnstile may set cookies or similar tokens as part of that check. We do not run a separate advertising pixel on these pages.
Retention
We keep account, listing, family, inquiry, and billing records for as long as they are needed to provide the service or as required for legitimate business or legal reasons. You can ask us to delete data we no longer need to operate your account.
Changes
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept the updated policy.
